Top Five Neon Nail Polishes!

7.05.2012

Hey dolls!

Sorry posts have been a bit infrequent this week- I was away Monday and Tuesday and have spent the rest of the week playing catch up!!

I love the neon trend; bright colours are perfect for summer, create a statement and are just overal comletely LUSH! If you don't fancy rocking the look with your clothes, you can still take part in the trend by painting your nails. Neon polish instantly adds interest to ones hands and is so eye catching. It also gives a subtle nod to the o-so-fashionable rave trend that is everywhere right now.

I have been on the hunt for an array of totally perfect colours as some neon polishes have the tendency to look a tad cheapo. But Iv rounded up a collection of my personal faves.

First up are these two American Apparel polishes from their neon range. I adore these two, I feel like they are the best in the business! Neon Green is the most sour apple green shade going; it reminds me of those sweets I used to eat when I was a kid- Nerds! So luminous and bold. Neon Yellow is basically the colour of a highlighting pen! It’s a shockingly bright yellow that hurts your eyes a bit its that bright. Both these polishes need two coats to equal opaqness, and dry matte, so a topcoat is essential for that perfect ' just left the salon' finish. £9 is a hefty tag for a polish, but you do get 15ml, and the square bottle is really unusual.

Models Own have created the much-loved Hedkandi range which boats some fabulous neon shades. My two faves are Beach Party, and Balearic Cool- a sumptuous orange and buoyant blue. Beach party is the perfect sunshine orange that looks like a cocktail on your nails. It needs just one coat and lasts ages without chipping. Great consistancy too. Balearic Cool is a fabulous deep sea blue with a shocking neon undertone, which looks amazing. For some reason though, the formula’s a bit different to Beach Party; its much more watery, and I found I needed three coats to achieve the opaque look. However, at a fiver a go, these are great value for money.

Lastly, I totally adore this beautiful neon pink shade by Toma, which you can buy at Mad Beauty. This is the shade ‘Vogue’ and I just adore it! It’s such an insanely bright pink, which is basically a party in a bottle. At £7.25 it’s slightly pricier than the Models Own, but def worth it, as the finish is so strong, it’s almost like a gel. Also, the brush is really wide so it’s so easy to apply. A definite must have.

What do you think of these polishes dolls? Do you have any fave neon shades?

Lots of Love,

Laura
